The plant was inaugurated in October 2002 and is authorized to manufacture medicinal products in solid oral dosage forms, such as powders, granules, tablets, film-coated tablets, as well as pellets which can be filled into hard gelatine capsules.

The following authorizations have been released by the Italian Health Authorities:

• Authorization no. aM-15/2011 dated 26th January 2011 for pharmaceutical products;
• Authorization no. 13734 dated 17th May 2011 for narcotic drugs;
• Authorization no. 13330 dated 11th June 2010 for psychotropic substances;
• Authorization no. 5/2003 of 27th March 2003 for veterinary products (includingnarcotics and psychotropics);
• Authorization no. 2002/33 dated 8th November 2002 for nutraceuticals.

The Iranian Health Authorities have issued the Authorization no. D/5/42/12435 dated 22nd July 2003.

Valpharma International S.p.A. releases the products to its customers in bulk.

Its total covered area is of about 33.000 square metres and includes the following departments:

• Import-Export Department;
• Accounting Department;
• Research and Development Department (about 2.000 square metres with sophisticated equipment);
• Quality Assurance Department;
• Quality Control Department (over 1.500 square metres equipped for chemical-pharmaceutical testing as well as ICH stability studies);
• Production Department (about 14.000 square metres where organic solvents utilized in the manufacture are conveyed to a combustor for complete oxidation: the exceeding heat produced is recovered to generate steam for processing or for heat absorption for the air-cooling);
• Maintenance Department.
